Anderson C. Hill, II is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and resident of Florida since 1976. He accepted CHRIST at the age of 14 and holds life membership in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Hill holds a Juris Doctor ’82 and M.B.A.’82 from The University of Florida, B.S.’76 from Clark College in Atlanta Georgia. The U of FL designated Hill as the first minority graduate of its JD/MBA program. Hill’s achievements are many. The Central Intelligence Agency named him an Urban Fellow in 1984. Hill is a recipient of the Father of the Year Award by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Male Role Model of the Year Award, both from Bethune-Cookman University. Hill received the Humanitarian Award from the Anti-Recidivist Effort, Inc., and has spoken throughout the state and country as an inspirational and motivational speaker. His messages are well received in educational and professional circles throughout the nation. Hill is President of HZ Construction, Inc., with a separate consulting service for Construction Business Issues as well as a Florida State Certified Building Contractor. His company was responsible for administration of $90 million in contracts for minority participation at the new Amway Events Center. Hill is a graduate of Leadership Orlando and Leadership Orange. He is a current member of the Orange County Public Schools Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and founder of Education is Cool – Get One, Inc. Evans Senior High School faculty, staff and students elected Hill as the Chairman of its regulatory School Advisory Committee (SAC) for 2005-06. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando appointed him to its Board of Directors for 3 terms. Hill presently serves as an ordained Deacon at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church of Orlando. He is the Former Director for the Church Men’s Ministry and founder of Men of Jesus, Inc. The Orange County Branch of the NAACP nominated him to become their former Chairman of Education for 3 years. He has been happily married for more than 34 years to Sandra Alene, with 3 beautiful children. The couple has appeared on syndicated national television shows to discuss their powerful marital experiences. Hill is a published author of In Search of the Truth, an outstanding story of his life. Hill served as “Y” Chairman for FY 2006 & 2007 and was awarded the Roper YMCA Volunteer of the Year on May 17th 2007. Hill was appointed as a member of the Pine Hills Business Redevelopment Task Force by the Orange County Board of Commissioners for 2010 & 2011.
Michael A. Hicks, Development Director
Mr. Michael A. Hicks is co-founder of Cohesive Constructors, Inc. He is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and has served the central Florida community since 1992 in construction management and development. Mr. Hicks is committed to excellence in providing a successful project from start to finish while staying within budget. He is currently serving as Development Director for the non-profit, Education is Cool Get one! Mr. Hicks serves as a liaison between students and corporate sponsors to bridge education and training in the construction industry.
Mr. Hicks received his B.S. degree in Architectural Construction Engineering Technology from Florida A& M University. Upon graduation in 1988 he was commissioned in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Transportation Corp, serving our country for 4 years. He has worked in the construction industry with major companies such as, Army Corp of Engineers, Corning Incorporated and Eastman Kodak, Inc. Mr. Hicks was founder of A&M Engineering Consultants where he provided successful construction management for Orange County Public Schools, Orlando International Airport, East-West Expressway Authority and private businesses.
Mr. Hicks is a licensed general contractor with the State of Florida and an active community educator. Mr. Hicks has served as the instructor and facilitator for the Department of Transportation Construction Management Development Program in 2013. Mr. Hicks is a council member on the Florida A&M University Facility Academic Advisory Council.
Mr. Hicks developed his love for community service when he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated in 1986. His affiliation with Omega Psi Phi has been a catalyst for many honors and awards of leadership. Mr. Hicks has been awarded the Basileus Uplift Award and Outstanding Committee Chairman award.
Mr. Hicks is a charter member of New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando. He has been a faithful and committed member since 1992, serving on the Usher Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Couples Ministry and Construction manager for ongoing projects.
Mr. Hicks is married to his college sweetheart Kimberly for over 25 years and they have one lovely daughter Kimiah who is a matriculating college student.
